Dissociation Print
For nearly a year after my son came home he could not go in the stroller without looking like he was in a trance. He would just check out. He would look like he was being a good and quiet baby but there was no life at all in his eyes. After even reasonable lengths of time in the stroller he would go on high alert and become very fussy, whiny, and even cling. He was much more anxious once he was removed from that one place. No amounts of trying to interact would help. The anxiety was always much more intense after he had any time at all to dissociate. I ended up using the stroller to cart the diaper bag and any packages and carried my son 100% of the time in the Ergo when we were out of the house. That way he had close face to face contact and lots of hugs, kisses, and bonding time outside of the house as well. Using the carrier outside the house instead of a stroller made all the difference in the world. (a. 6mo, FC)
